The Undergraduate (BDS) Programme provides students with comprehensive training in the principles and practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery through a structured combination of didactic teaching, preclinical exercises, and supervised clinical experience. Students are trained in patient evaluation, diagnosis, treatment planning, administration of local anaesthesia and the management of common oral surgical conditions. Clinical exposure includes routine and surgical extractions, management of impacted teeth and odontogenic infections, minor oral surgical procedures, and pre-prosthetic surgical interventions. The curriculum also introduces students to the fundamentals of maxillofacial trauma, medical emergency management, infection control, and postoperative patient care. Emphasis is placed on developing sound clinical judgment, surgical proficiency, ethical practice, and a patient-centered approach, enabling graduates to deliver safe and effective oral surgical care while recognizing conditions that require specialist management.
